Posh
Boy released a lot of other material by the band, most on other labels. Walk On
Well-Lighted Streets, the Spires' second album was released through Jem Records and was
notable for its striking artwork (illustrated above) provided by then undiscovered
Whittier painter Mark Kostabi. Geza X, musician and producer, came to be the
unacknowledged owner of one of the 2 known versions of the painting Bed of Nails.
Later, the Spires released a self financed third album through Tabb Records. |

writes : I really like the Glu Gun CD by the way. They still around? Touring? Robbie Fields responds : Bob Oedy, the singer, is one hell of a guy. He's in the electricians' union, either working on the L A subway or at one of those oil refineries that keep popping off. For those who want to know, they were signed by me in December 1993 when they opened at the Anti-Club in Hollywood for Das Klown who had invited me and outdrew them 20 to 1; I think we sat down for a 7-Up and 15 minutes later Bob Oedy had agreed to postpone their own release of a CD and have me release it for them in a revised form. This was not the first time I had gone "butterfly" at a group's gig. I signed Shattered Faith at the first gig of my then latest signing, Channel 3, Cuckoo's Nest 1981. Bob got married recently so he's been concentrating on that aspect of his life. He's been plagued by flakes in his different line-ups. The group has reverted to the original spelling of their name, Glue Gun, and used it for the second album "The Scene's Not For Sale" released on Fearless Records. On that record, they covered "Rock 'n Roll Star" by the Simpletones. I had suggested they make it sound like the Offspring (the one time Bob did not follow my advice!). For those who know, the Simpletones version sounds uncannily like Van Halen. Oedy will be back! |

143: GOTHIC HUT - (LP) Just as Posh Boy released records made by his recording engineer(s), David Hines and Geza X., the label was open to helping the musical careers of its graphic artists. Gothic Hut was Kevin J. Walker's band, Kevin having designed many of the more seminal of the Posh Boy covers including the T.S.O.L. and CH 3 e.p.'s. |
