This is the picture sleeve from the Musical Tragedies German 7" saw-blade release (MT cat# MT-262). Musical Tragedies came up with the idea to do shaped 7" discs, the shape being that of a saw blade; it's doubtful that a U.S. company could get away with manufacturing such records, the edges of the record are very sharp! Offering value for money, the other side of the disc contains the Adolescents' Amoeba (PBS-6). The U.S. single versions of both records were "A" side only, the "B" side being an unplayable etching. |

Originally discretely listed as "New York Surprise", this rendition of the Leiber/Stoller classic was destined to become one of the biggest hits of 1980 on the ZE label when it was withdrawn owing to a copyright dispute. Included on the pre-1992 The Best of Rodney On The Roq compact disc. |

PBS 29: THE CROWD - Modern Machine / Suzy is a Surf Rocker (45)(IP)
The Crowd's MODERN MACHINE was a minor hit with no small thanks to Rodney Bingenheimer at KROQ in Pasadena, California. The archival picture used for the 1990 retro single release catches Jim Trash (Decker) at his physical best. To hang out with The Crowd in the Huntington Beach of 1979 was California bliss. Now, tell me, what connection is there between the London punk rock of '77 and its anemic looking beggars with spiked hair and the 100% cotton, crew-cut surfers brought up on a diet of Bob's Big Boy hamburgers? |
PBS 108: THE CROWD - A World Apart (LP)
Little did we know that after A WORLD APART, we wouldn't see another Crowd album for nine long years |
